The converting never stops! This week, Staffer Adam has a new unit that they've been super excited to convert since they were first revealed!
The conversion process was extremely easy this time around, which gave me the opportunity to try a few more in-depth alterations. But starting at the hips of the new Rough Rider kit, it is a simple matter to clip and file the joint flat to make it able to accept the flat joint of our Torsos.
Following on from my first conversion blog post on GW Cadians™ I've continued the first squad's theme for an old-school Praetorian feel, and expanded them into a cavalry role.
By removing the Rough Rider's from the waist up, I decided to include our own Hussar torsos for the bulk of the Cavalry squad, and a Cuirass torso for the squad sergeant, and then spiced up the Pith helmets with a single Turban head too!
While the lance would have been an option I could use, by swapping out the torsos I gave myself the opportunity to diversify the squads' armament, which I gladly jumped on! My squad has largely swapped their melee weapons for Phase Arquebuses, with Rifle-Stock Fatigue arms to wield them, and one is even equipped with an M79 grenade launcher (as a nod to the explosive lances usually used by Rough Riders)
My Sergeant, Banner Bearer, and one of the riflemen were posed to still be holding their horses' reins, which I found some of the left arms from our Fatigue Rifle Stock Arms were easily able to match up to the original poses. Of course, no self-respecting Praetorian would be seen dead without their epaulettes!
Lastly, I felt that the Sergeant needed a Cavalry Sabre, and the riflemen got Medieval Haversacks to counterbalance the weight of the rifle in front of the miniature.
We hope you've been inspired by these conversions and have some ideas of your own now you've seen how easy it is!
